I invited Death to my 2 o’clock tea party

and this time he actually came to see me.

Always polite as he took of his shoes

before entering softly into my room.

Quietly, he took a seat

between fluffy Bridges the Bunny

and the amazing Captain Pete.

Death chatted politely with all of the guests,

wearing my favorite tiara from inside the treasure chest.

He smiled and giggled and drank his tea neat,

and when the party was over we played hide and seek.

When the afternoon faded

and the day turned to eve,

My new best friend, Death, told me

that it was time we should leave.

So I grabbed my small hat so I could cover my head,

unplugged the machines helping me stay in my bed,

and I got up quite slowly, and felt the cold of the floor.

Then, my friend, and I Death made our way to the door.
