Sand Castles in a Hurricane
Recently I had two poems published in the Alien Buddha Zine issue # 56.

We dig and clean
tiny plastic shovels in hand,
our faces flush against the wind.
The rain keeps falling
but we are still here
trying.
Our bodies, dirty and broken,
holding pieces together,
fighting against the rising tide.
The waves keep growing
and everything is collapsing
but here we are
trying.
Finally, all at once,
the clouds open up
the storm rages,
and waves slam against
our home.
Everything is washed away
our hopes pulled out to sea.
We all watch from the shoreline,
pick up our shovels,
and again begin to build,
begin to try.
